Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week - February 28th, 2008

Hi, I'm Officer Paula Morrow, Crime Stoppers' Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard Counties.

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information on an attempted First Degree Murder that occurred on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at approximately 4:30 pm in the 2500 block of Roadrunner. Officers received information that a victim of a shooting had walked into St. John's Hospital for treatment. Upon arrival, the officer discovered the victim being treated for multiple gunshot wounds to his hand and his head. The investigation led officers to the 2500 block of Roadrunner where they located a possible crime scene.

Initial information is that the victim was sitting in the parking area when the suspect, who was described as a younger, thin, black male, opened the passenger side door of the vehicle and produced a handgun, firing multiple times at the victim. The victim was able to back out of the parking lot and drive himself to the hospital, where he was treated for potentially life threatening injuries.

If you have any information on this crime, you can remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427 [1-800-397-2288], submitting a tip via the internet or use a cell phone to send a tip. You could get a cash reward of up to $1000.

Remember Crime Stoppers wants your information, not your name.
