Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week - October 23rd, 2008

Hi, I'm Officer Paula Morrow, Crime Stoppers' Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard Counties.

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information on a burglary that occurred on August 25th at 2:53 a.m. at National City Bank, located at 802 S. 11th Street. At least two suspects used a stolen blue Dodge Dakota pick up, to force entry to the Foyer of the bank. The suspects then attempted to access the ATM machine that was located inside the bank. While no cash was taken from the ATM, there was damage to the machine and building in excess of $11,000.00

There was a similar incident on August 27th at 3:39 a.m. at the Home Town Pantry where a stolen vehicle crashed into the building to gain access. There was an ATM inside the Home Town Pantry but no access was gained.

If you have information on either of these crimes, you can remain completely anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427 [1-800-397-2288], submitting a tip via the internet or using a cell phone to send a tip [type TIP672 plus your message and send it CRIMES(274637)]. You could get a cash reward of up to $1000.

Remember Crime Stoppers wants your information, not your name.
