Hi,
I'm Officer Butch Slater, Crime Stoppers' Coordinator
for Sangamon and Menard Counties.
This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information on
a Theft over and Criminal Damage to State Supported
Property that occurred during the first week of January
2009. The County Highway Department reports that during
the first week of January 12 to 15 railroad signs, warning
signs, and stop signs were removed from county roads
and township roads. Reports also indicate that not only
were these signs stolen, there was also damage done
to the post that hold the signs. The Highway Department
estimates their loss due to the theft and damage at
$750. It is believed that whoever is responsible for
the thefts may be taking the signs to a salvage yard
to recycle them and get cash as the signs are made of
aluminum.
If you have information about this incident or other
suspicious activity, you can remain completely anonymous
by contacting Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427 [1-800-397-2288],
submitting
a tip via the internet or using
a cell phone to send a tip [type TIP672 plus your
message and send it CRIMES(274637)]. You could get a
cash reward of up to $1000.
Remember Crime Stoppers wants your information,
not your name.
