Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week - June 25th, 2009

Hi, I'm Officer Butch Slater, Crime Stoppers' Coordinator for Sangamon and Menard Counties.

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about two Criminal Defacement to Property that occurred on Friday June 12th. The first occurred at 6th and Adams where a traveling statue of President Obama was located. The numbers "420" had been spray painted in green on the right cheek of President Obama causing $200 worth of damage to the statue. The second incident occurred at 600 E. Monroe. A white male in his twenties with a ponytail wearing a dark shirt and dark shorts was seen exiting a white PT Cruiser and going to the north side of the building with something in his hand. The white male then returned to his vehicle and left east on Monroe. It was then later discovered that the word "$LAVE" had been spray painted in green on the building.

If you have information about these incidents, you can remain completely anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427 [1-800-397-2288], submitting a tip via the internet or using a cell phone to send a tip [type TIP672 plus your message and send it CRIMES(274637)]. You could get a cash reward of up to $1000.

Remember Crime Stoppers wants your information, not your name.
