I'm Officer Butch Slater, Crime Stoppers' Coordinator
for Sangamon and Menard Counties.
This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about
an Armed Home Invasion and Aggravated Battery that occurred
on Wednesday August 12th 2009 in the 200 block of Main
St. in Mechanicsburg. An unknown white male 5ft6in to
5ft8in 160lbs wearing a black ski mask, black coat or
sweat shirt, jeans, and black gloves with a goatee or
mustache entered the residence and started yelling at
the victims. One of the victims was beat with a sledge
hammer while a struggle occurred. The suspect then threatened
the victims with a handgun before leaving the residence.
A small 4door vehicle possibly a Toyota or Nissan white
in color with a loud muffler and with damage to the
rear driver's side door was seen leaving the area.
