Crime
Stoppers President - Cheryl McGill 2003-2004
Cheryl
McGill, 2004 President of CrimeStoppers of Sangamon
and Menard Counties.
Cheryl was born and raised in Middletown, IL (Logan
County). She attended New Holland-Middletown schools
and Lincoln Land Community College. Cheryl is a 25 year
employee of SIU School of Medicine. She currently holds
the position of Director, Patient Business Services.
Her unit is responsible for providing insurance and
patient billing support to the SIU physicians' practice.
Cheryl is married to Greenie McGill and they have resided
in northern Sangamon County for the past seven years.
Cheryl is not a new face to the Board. She and Greenie
have been active in CrimeStoppers since 1986. They continue
to lead a group of dedicated volunteers (which also
includes their daughter, Jennifer,) creating and building
prize winning parade floats for the organization. These
floats have appeared in the St. Patrick's Day Parade
as well as the Illinois State Fair Parade for the past
eighteen (18) years. They have also contributed hours
of their own time supporting the Board's many fund raisers.
She has been a voting member of the CrimeStoppers Board
since 1997 and held the position of Secretary to the
Board in 2001 and 2002 and Vice President in 2003.
Over the years, Cheryl has watched as Coordinators
changed; law enforcement leaders changed; and media
outlets changed; but the one thing that has not changed
is that the CrimeStoppers program works. Crimes are
solved, arrests are made and tips are paid and by being
a member of this Board, Cheryl feels that she has contributed
to the program's success. Cheryl states: "My experiences
with the CrimeStoppers program have been both positive
and very rewarding. I truly believe in this program
and feel because of our program, Sangamon and Menard
Counties are safer places to live and raise our families.
My time makes a difference and provides results."
