Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties has announced that its board of directors has approved increasing the maximum amount that individuals could receive for providing tips that help solve crimes. It will go from $1,000 to $2,500. The increase takes effect immediately.
“Sometimes offering a maximum of $1,000 just wasn’t sufficient to elicit the information needed to solve crimes in our counties,” said Terry Farmer, president of Crime Stoppers. “By raising the maximum we are informing the public that they could receive up to $2,500 for their confidential information. It is important that we continue to provide an attractive incentive to help our law enforcement partners solve crimes quickly.”
As always every payout for tips provided to Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties is handled on a case by case basis. The amount of each payout is individually determined based upon a number of factors as no two crimes are alike and several tips could be different for the same crime.
