This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Illinois State Police in reference to homicide investigation.  On March 13th, 2024, around 1200 pm police were called to the southbound on ramp to I-55 at Stevenson Drive in reference to a body being found.  Investigators were able to identify the body as Teresa Coleman from Springfield who had been reported missing on March 4th.  Her death is being ruled as a homicide.  Anyone with information regarding Teresa’s death that leads to an arrest will receive a cash reward up to $5000.  An image of her can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a theft that occurred at the La Quinta Inn located at 1121 Lejune on December 18th around 6:30p.m. The victim had lost over $10,000 out of their pocket they were going to give their employees as a Christmas bonus. Video footage shows the suspect, who appears to be a female with dark hair, bend down and pick up what appears to be the sum of cash. It is unknown which direction the suspect went after. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an attempted motor vehicle theft and criminal damage that occurred at State Farm located at 1200 W Jefferson on November 9th around 2:30 p.m. The victim saw two young males inside their vehicle attempting to steal it. Upon confronting them, they fled the area. While examining the vehicle, the lower half of the steering column had been removed causing approximately $500 in damage. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a hit and run that occurred on November 15th just after 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 11th and North Grand. The suspect vehicle, which appeared to be a dark color Mazda Sedan, turned in front of a motorcycle causing the driver to be ejected from the bike and suffer multiple non-life-threatening injuries including broken bones. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a fire that occurred at the NAACP located at 811 S 11th street. Between the hours of 1230 and 1245 am on November 28th, a suspect, who appeared to be a male wearing a jacket and khaki pants, can be seen on the property. The suspect was seen going behind the building and starting a fire inside the dumpster. The suspect then stared at the fire before leaving the area northbound on foot. If you are ordering gifts online, track your packages, have it shipped to an alternate address or utilize a delivery locker to help prevent the theft of packages. If you are traveling, contact your local police department to inquire about vacation checks and request a vacation hold on any shipments you are expecting. Finally keep valuables out of sight. Take any purchases out of your vehicle, lock your car doors, place valuables out of sight in your residence, and of course enjoy the Holiday season! This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference two armed robberies that occurred on October 19th between 9 and 11:10p.m. resulting in the loss of over $1400. One robbery occurred at Walgreens at 2305 W Monroe while the other occurred at Famous Liquors at 1540 W Wabash. Famous liquors was robbed by two male suspects while Walgreens was robbed by one male suspect. In both incidents, employees were threatened with a firearm and forced to concede store money. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office reference an incident that occurred at Qik N EZ at 2800 Peoria RD on October 13th just after 1 p.m. During the incident, felony criminal damage and mob action occurred. Four suspects entered the store and began to destroy merchandise and threatened to shoot up the store. As the suspects were leaving, the female suspect threw a firewood bundle through the windshield of a vehicle on the property. The incident resulted in over $700 in damage. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Rochester Police Department reference multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Maplehurst and Woodland Trail subdivisions. These burglaries occurred on September 19th between 2 and 3 am and resulted in approximately $1,000 in cash as well as electronics being stolen. There were two vehicles, appearing to be dark in color, seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed at the time of the burglaries however it is not clear at this time if they are the suspect vehicles.
