This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify a suspicious individual(s) who were attempting to break into houses during the week of October 22nd in the 2300 block of Ramsey, in Springfield.  A male suspect or possibly two different males were seen on different occasions trying to enter a residence. On one occasion there was a male wearing a white sweat shirt and black pants and during another attempt there was a male wearing a red long-sleeved shirt or possibly sweatshirt and shorts.  Photos of the individual(s) can be found on this website, cashfortips.us. Burglary to Motor Vehicle

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Rochester Police Department reference multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Maplehurst and Woodland Trail subdivisions. These burglaries occurred on September 19th between 2 and 3 am and resulted in approximately $1,000 in cash as well as electronics being stolen. There were two vehicles, appearing to be dark in color, seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed at the time of the burglaries however it is not clear at this time if they are the suspect vehicles. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office reference a burglary to motor vehicle that occurred at Selvaggio Steel on October 16th around 3:40 a.m. The suspect vehicle, which appears to be a Mercury Grand Marquis entered off of Lincoln Avenue. Once on the property, the suspect, who appeared to be a tall slender male, proceeded to steal approximately $700 worth of cordless Milwaukee tools and batteries from a work truck. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an armed robbery that occurred at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on October 8th around 3:30 a.m. The male suspect, described as 5’8, muscular build, bearded and wearing a white sweatshirt, brown camo pants and a mask, inquired about a room but then pulled a firearm. The suspect tied up an employee, hit them with the firearm causing a laceration and went through an array of office space taking approximately $32. This week Crime Stoppers wants to make you aware of our next event! Weebles will be hosting the 7th annual Shrimp Boil for Crime Stoppers on Sunday, October 22nd from 1pm-5pm. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office reference an armed robbery that occurred just before 1 am on September 24th at Gigi’s Video Gaming located at 1405 Adlai Stevenson Dr. Two male suspects, one carrying a silver handgun and the other carrying an AR-15 entered the business and robbed the employee working. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary to motor vehicle that occurred at the Rutledge Youth Foundation on September 12th just before 11:00 a.m. The suspect, who appeared to be a male wearing a blue windbreaker, red Air Jordan hat and dark jeans, made entry into the victim’s vehicle and proceeded to steal an array of items. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a retail theft that occurred at Macy’s on September 7th around 12:00 p.m. Two male suspects entered the store and began to ask to see an assortment of various jewelry. After both suspects looked at jewelry one of the subjects grabbed a 3 piece diamond ring set valued at $5,500 and ran away from the store. The other suspect fled the store as well. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Rochester Police Department reference multiple vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries that occurred between July 14th and 15th. One vehicle theft occurred in the apartment complex on Cardinal Hill Rd while the other vehicle theft and vehicle burglaries occurred in the Camelot subdivision. During the burglaries, an array of items were taken including a Glock 43x handgun. The stolen vehicles have been recovered however, the firearm has not and Crime Stoppers needs your help solving these crimes. There are no photos available at this time. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a retail theft that occurred on September 1st around 5:49 p.m. at Game Stop located at 2506 N Dirksen Parkway. The suspect, a male wearing a blue shirt, and brownish camouflage hat, entered the store. Once inside, the suspect took multiple items totaling almost $300. Upcoming Fundraisers

This week Crime Stoppers wants to make you aware of three upcoming fundraisers. Our first fundraiser will be taking place at The Office Bar and Grill on September 7th from 5-7pm for the first night of NFL football. Our second event will be the Rt. 66 Car show in downtown Springfield September 22-24 as we were selected as the charity of choice. The third fundraiser will be our 8th annual Rhythm & Brews on October 2nd at Hand of Fate Brewing Company in Petersburg. Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization and we rely on donations from our generous community so we can pay out rewards to the tipsters who help law enforcement solve crimes. We are extremely grateful for everyone who has supported us since our organization started in 1983 and we look forward to seeing you at future events!
