This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify an individual reference counterfeit money. On September 10th Officers responded to Nancy’s Pizza, 2301 W Monroe, in reference to an individual using a fake $50 bill.  The suspect was described as a black male wearing a grey shirt, black pants and a dew rag.  The suspect placed an order and used counterfeit money to pay.  It was discovered at that time by officers that the suspect had done the exact same thing to 3 other business in that location within the same time frame. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary to motor vehicle that occurred at the Rutledge Youth Foundation on September 12th just before 11:00 a.m. The suspect, who appeared to be a male wearing a blue windbreaker, red Air Jordan hat and dark jeans, made entry into the victim’s vehicle and proceeded to steal an array of items. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a retail theft that occurred at Macy’s on September 7th around 12:00 p.m. Two male suspects entered the store and began to ask to see an assortment of various jewelry. After both suspects looked at jewelry one of the subjects grabbed a 3 piece diamond ring set valued at $5,500 and ran away from the store. The other suspect fled the store as well. Vehicle Theft and Burglary to Motor Vehicle

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Rochester Police Department reference multiple vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries that occurred between July 14th and 15th. One vehicle theft occurred in the apartment complex on Cardinal Hill Rd while the other vehicle theft and vehicle burglaries occurred in the Camelot subdivision. During the burglaries, an array of items were taken including a Glock 43x handgun. The stolen vehicles have been recovered however, the firearm has not and Crime Stoppers needs your help solving these crimes. There are no photos available at this time. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a retail theft that occurred on September 1st around 5:49 p.m. at Game Stop located at 2506 N Dirksen Parkway. The suspect, a male wearing a blue shirt, and brownish camouflage hat, entered the store. Once inside, the suspect took multiple items totaling almost $300. Upcoming Fundraisers

This week Crime Stoppers wants to make you aware of three upcoming fundraisers. Our first fundraiser will be taking place at The Office Bar and Grill on September 7th from 5-7pm for the first night of NFL football. Our second event will be the Rt. 66 Car show in downtown Springfield September 22-24 as we were selected as the charity of choice. The third fundraiser will be our 8th annual Rhythm & Brews on October 2nd at Hand of Fate Brewing Company in Petersburg. Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization and we rely on donations from our generous community so we can pay out rewards to the tipsters who help law enforcement solve crimes. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary that occurred at Capital Storage at 818 S Dirksen sometime between August 7th and 8th. The suspect, who appeared to be a male, arrived in a silver Ford SUV. The vehicle has a possible registration of “CV58296”. $350 in damage was done as the lock was broken on the unit. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a residential burglary that occurred in the 1600 block of S 16th Street sometime between 5 and 6 a.m. on August 12th. The house was occupied by a resident at the time of the crime. The suspect, who appeared to be a male made entry into the residence after shattering a rear window causing $500 in damage. The suspect, who appeared to be a male, jumped the fence of the business, entered a van on the property that had a trailer attached and proceeded to drive through the fence causing $4000 in damages. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a retail theft that occurred on July 18th shortly after 11:00 a.m. at Marshall’s located at 2560 W Wabash. Three females entered the store and proceeded to conceal an array of items including clothing and cameras. The items were valued at over $260 and the females left the store without paying for them. The suspects were accompanied by three juvenile children, including one toddler, and used a baby carrier and blankets to help conceal some of the items. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information reference repeated illegal burns occurring on the property of both Oak Ridge and Calvary Cemeteries in Springfield. In the last year, the Springfield Fire Department has responded to fires in the area on 11 different occasions. Luckily, the fires were noticed quickly and no significant damage has occurred on the properties. While Arson is a felony offense, it is also important to remember open burning is also illegal in Springfield. Although it is not a felony, open burning of any item(s) is prohibited within the city limits.
