Around 5 pm firefighters responded to the park due to unknown suspects setting fire to the playground equipment inside the park.  The fire caused extensive damage, destroying a large portion of the playground and resulting in an estimated $70,000 in damage. Anyone who may have been in the area that witnessed suspicious activity, observed individuals near the playground or has information about those responsible to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip on this website, or use the P3 app.
