Illegal Burning

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information reference repeated illegal burns occurring on the property of both Oak Ridge and Calvary Cemeteries in Springfield. In the last year, the Springfield Fire Department has responded to fires in the area on 11 different occasions. Luckily, the fires were noticed quickly and no significant damage has occurred on the properties. While Arson is a felony offense, it is also important to remember open burning is also illegal in Springfield. Although it is not a felony, open burning of any item(s) is prohibited within the city limits. If you have any information regarding any of these fires, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip on this website, cashfortips.us, or use the P3 app. If your tip results in an arrest you could receive a cash reward up to $2500.  Remember Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
