Unlawful Credit Card Use

This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to help the Springfield Police Department to identify two individuals in reference to a theft.

On October 14th two women had their wallets stolen while shopping in Springfield. The stolen credit cards were then used around town to make large purchases, totaling over $6,000.00

This incident is an important reminder to protect yourself from pickpockets while shopping. Keep purses zipped and close to your body, never leave wallets unattended in shopping carts, and be aware of anyone standing unusually close or attempting to distract you.  Pickpockets often take advantage of busy stores and distracted shoppers.

Images of the suspects can be found on this website cashfortips.us. Anyone with information about this incident call Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427.

If your tip results in an arrest, you could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.

With the days getting shorter and darkness being a thief’s best friend, Crime Stoppers wants to remind you that a few simple habits can help prevent vehicle burglaries and thefts.

Every time you park—whether you’re at home, at work, or just running into a store—remember three things:

Lock it. Take it. Hide it.

Lock your vehicle, even if you’ll only be gone for a minute.

Take your keys, wallet, purse, and other valuables with you.

And hide anything you must leave behind before you arrive at your destination.

At home, keep your vehicle locked and your keys or key fob inside your house.

If you have any information about any crime report it.  Crime Stoppers will always keep you anonymous and if your tip results in an arrest, you could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.

Remember, Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
