Burglary to Motor Vehicle

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference a burglary to motor vehicle that occurred in the 1200 block of W Monroe St in Springfield, IL on August 2nd, 2022 around 1:40 a.m. A subject that appeared to be a black male wearing a gray shirt and light colored shorts and shoes made entry into the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect proceeded to take a backpack, 2 computers and a mobile hotspot before leaving eastbound on foot. The items were worth approximately $1,170. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Police Department reference an armed robbery that occurred at County Market located at 1501 S Dirksen Pkwy in Springfield, IL on July 19th, 2022 around 10:45p.m. After being followed by an older model black vehicle driven by a black female, the victim pulled into County Market. A black male, approximately 25-30 years old, exited the black vehicle, walked up to the victim’s vehicle, and pointed a pistol at the victim's head demanding everything they had. The victim gave the suspect approximately $3 and drove away from the scene. Trivia 2022 Postponed

Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in our region, Crime Stoppers is postponing this year’s annual Trivia Night, scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the BOS Center. We care about the health and wellbeing of everyone involved with this event, especially all of our participants. and do not want to cause more people to become unnecessarily exposed to the virus or infected.

Hopefully, it will become the norm in the future and we will be able to reschedule the event. Until then, we will continue to plan for a Trivia Night featuring challenging questions, exciting guest moderators and a host of prizes and other surprises.

We thank everyone in Sangamon and Menard Counties for their generous support of Crime Stoppers. We are especially grateful to the many organizations and individuals who contribute to making our Trivia Nights successful.

Rhythm & Brews Fundraiser for Crime Stoppers

Join Crime Stoppers for their 3rd Annual Rythm & Brews event on Monday, July 16, 2018, at the Hand of Fate Brewing Company in downtown Petersburg, IL. Doors open for food and drink at 5:00 with music by the Whirled Peas beginning at 6:30pm.

Tickets for guests are $15.00 or $25.00 for a couple and includes entry into the event plus 1 complimentary brew, food and a souvenir koozie or drink coaster. Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult.

Craft beer aficionados will enjoy award winning brews, savory bites and hearty eats from Dr. Ugs and live music by the Whirled Peas. The Whirled Peas is a Petersburg-based four-some consisting of Larry Dirks, Jody Alderman, Wendy Beckerman and Rick Allen. They bring a blend of harmonious Americana, southern rock, classic rock music along with their deep commitment to roots and community.

Seeking information relating to knife altercation resulting in non-life threatening stabbing of three women

Three women were taken to Springfield hospitals with non-life threatening stab wounds early Sunday following a disturbance at a house party on the 2800 block of South 13th Street, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office said.

No information was available on what prompted the the disturbance, which was reported about 4:50 a.m. The three victims were in a disturbance with another group of people, and at least one of the women in the other group had a knife and allegedly stabbed the three women, the sheriff’s office said.

Springfield Police Seek Help in Locating Suspects in Criminal Cases

Local authorities are asking for help in finding people wanted for many criminal offenses. If you can identify any of the people whose images were captured on surveillance cameras and posted on the Springfield Police Department website , spd.springfield.il.us , take note of the case number which corresponds to the picture and call Crime Stoppers at (217) 788-8427 to leave a tip.

If you can identify any of the suspects you can also submit a tip on the Crime Stopper website cashfortips.us or via a text message by typing TIP672 plus the tip information you have and send it to CRIMES. Do not identify yourself when leaving a tip, an anonymous tip number will be provided to you. All tips remain anonymous and are eligible for cash rewards of up to $2,500 if the information is not already known by police and it leads to an arrest. Homicide cases can lead to cash rewards up to $5,000.
