Ongoing Thefts and Burglaries

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about ongoing thefts of catalytic converters and burglaries to storage units throughout Springfield and Sangamon County.  The catalytic converters are cut from the exhaust of victim vehicles.  The thefts and burglaries are taking place during overnight hours.  Crime Stoppers has received tips about these incidents but more information is needed to solve these crimes and Law Enforcement needs your help to apprehend the suspects.  If you have any information about these incidents call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 788-8427, submit a tip on this website, Cashfortips.US or download the P3 app on any mobile device and submit a tip from there.   If an arrest is made based on your tip you could receive a cash reward up to $2500.  Remember Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.

Armed Robbery to Business

Armed Robbery to Business
This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about an Armed Robbery to the Circle K gas station, 2700 Stevenson Drive on Sunday, January 3rd at 5:05am.  In this incident a black male suspect enters the store armed with a black handgun and demands money from the clerk.  The suspect was described as light to medium skin tone, 5’10”/150lbs. wearing a dark green winter coat with fur lined hood, black mask, light gray hooded sweatshirt with multi-colored block lettering on the front, light washed blue jeans and tan work boots with dark colored cuffs on top.  He also had a tattoo on the back of his left hand.  The suspect fled south on foot after the robbery.  Photos of the suspect can be viewed on our website, Cashfortips.US.  If you have any...

Every month, Storm Team 20 partners with Green Family stores for their 3-degree weather guarantee. If forecasters correctly predict the next day's high within 3 degrees, a local charity wins money. Information wanted on local shooting

Information wanted on local shooting

A Springfield woman is dead after being shot early Sunday near her home. Springfield police said the woman was shot in the 1300 block of Clay Street. Police received call of a shooting at 4:51 a.m. The woman was taken to HSHS St. John's Hospital, where she died shortly after from a gunshot wound.

Mailbox vandalism

Mailbox vandalism

At least 15 mailboxes were vandalized at homes west of Veterans Parkway the past three days, police said.

Among the areas hit were houses near Old Jacksonville Road, Bunker Hill Road and Farmingdale Road, according to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.

Gas station on West Monroe robbed

A robber threatened a gas station clerk with a knife and demanded money at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the clerk was making coffee when a man carrying a knife with a scarf partially covering his face entered the store, located at 2641 W. Monroe St.

The robber ran toward the clerk with a knife, which had a 6-inch blade, and pushed him to the ground and demanded money from the register.
