This week Crime stoppers is seeking information about an armed robbery at the One Stop Grocery at 2468 E Cook ST on DEC 3rd around 1:10pm. In this case an older black male wearing a black puffy coat, grey sweat pants, tan shoes and a ski mask displayed a weapon to the cashier and demanded money. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a robbery at 1150 N 5th/Dollar Tree which occurred on Nov 19 around 9:20 p.m. In this case 2 young thin black males both about 5’5 with black stocking caps and one in a white shirt, the other in a black hooded jacket battered an employee that was leaving and took a bag being carried. They got into a newer light blue 4dr and fled south on 5th street. Every month, Storm Team 20 partners with Green Family stores for their 3-degree weather guarantee. If forecasters correctly predict the next day's high within 3 degrees, a local charity wins money. Information wanted on local shooting

A Springfield woman is dead after being shot early Sunday near her home. Springfield police said the woman was shot in the 1300 block of Clay Street. Police received call of a shooting at 4:51 a.m. The woman was taken to HSHS St. John's Hospital, where she died shortly after from a gunshot wound.

Mailbox vandalism

At least 15 mailboxes were vandalized at homes west of Veterans Parkway the past three days, police said.

Among the areas hit were houses near Old Jacksonville Road, Bunker Hill Road and Farmingdale Road, according to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.

Gas station on West Monroe robbed

A robber threatened a gas station clerk with a knife and demanded money at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the clerk was making coffee when a man carrying a knife with a scarf partially covering his face entered the store, located at 2641 W. Monroe St.

The robber ran toward the clerk with a knife, which had a 6-inch blade, and pushed him to the ground and demanded money from the register.
