Armed Robbery to Business

 

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about an Armed Robbery at Circle K, 2700 Stevenson Dr. on Tuesday, July 28th at 4:37am.  A black male suspect produced a small black handgun and demanded money from the cash register.  He then fled on foot and was last seen running northwest in the Walgreens lot at Stevenson/Taylor Ave.  The suspect was described as being in his 30’s, 5’10”/150lbs, wearing a black ball cap, black surgical mask, yellow construction shirt with reflective gray stripes over both shoulders and down the middle and black pants.  Photos of the suspect can be viewed on this website, Cashfortips.US.  If you have any information about this Armed Robbery, you can provide it anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 788-8427, submitting on our website, or by downloading the P3 app on any mobile device.  Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards and remember we only want your information, not your name!

This week Crime Stoppers would like to remind you of some basic summer safety rules for your home. Leave porch and alley lights on at night, secure all windows, doors and any garage doors. Lock car doors even if you park inside a garage and remove any valuables and don't forget to take your key fob with you!   If leaving town, call your local police department to have vacation checks done. Every month, Storm Team 20 partners with Green Family stores for their 3-degree weather guarantee. If forecasters correctly predict the next day's high within 3 degrees, a local charity wins money. Information wanted on local shooting

A Springfield woman is dead after being shot early Sunday near her home. Springfield police said the woman was shot in the 1300 block of Clay Street. Police received call of a shooting at 4:51 a.m. The woman was taken to HSHS St. John's Hospital, where she died shortly after from a gunshot wound.

Mailbox vandalism

At least 15 mailboxes were vandalized at homes west of Veterans Parkway the past three days, police said.

Among the areas hit were houses near Old Jacksonville Road, Bunker Hill Road and Farmingdale Road, according to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.

Gas station on West Monroe robbed

A robber threatened a gas station clerk with a knife and demanded money at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the clerk was making coffee when a man carrying a knife with a scarf partially covering his face entered the store, located at 2641 W. Monroe St.

The robber ran toward the clerk with a knife, which had a 6-inch blade, and pushed him to the ground and demanded money from the register.
