Robbery and Shots Fired

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a Robbery and Shots Fired that occurred on August, 5th around 11:03pm at 101 S. Lewis in Springfield.  A cab driver was dispatched to pick up a fair and upon arrival a black male with short dreadlocks, wearing black shorts approached the cab.  The black male opened the door, put a gun to the drivers head and robbed him of his tip money.  The suspect fled west on foot and fired several shots at the cab as he ran away.   If you have any information about this Robbery or any crime, you can stay completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 788-8427.  You can also submit a tip on this website, Cashfortips.US.  If an arrest is made based on your tip, you will receive a cash reward up to 2500 dollars. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a Bank Robbery that occurred on August, 8thth around 4:42pm at UCB Bank located at 2120 Peoria Rd.  In this case a black male entered the bank and approached employee’s, demanding money.  The suspect was wearing sunglasses, a black facemask and a dark blue hoody with a yellow reflective traffic vest over it. A Crime Stoppers Tip led to the arrest of 33 year old Shawn T Graves, who robbed Warren Boynton Bank at 3030 Spring Mill Dr, on 11/4/2013 at 9:40 am. The tip led to a successful investigation by the Springfield Police Detective Bureau.

During its 30-year history, the local program, which began as an anti-drug tip line in 1983, has helped close more than 7,170 cases, contributed to more than 4,300 arrests, and assisted in recovering more than $7.56 million in stolen property, cash or drugs. In the last few years, Crime Stoppers has found ways to adapt to the ever-changing technology landscape, according to Ernie Slottag, who’s served as a volunteer member of the organization’s 30-member board since 1998.
