This week Crime Stoppers is seeking to assist the Springfield Police Department to identify two suspects reference to a burglary that occurred at Gabatoni’s located at 300 E Laurel, in Springfield.  On June 14th, 2026, at approximately 10:45 pm.,

two suspects forced entry to the business.  Once inside, the two went through a cash drawer and an office stealing hundreds of dollars.  They then fled the scene running through the alley.  The suspects were both wearing all black clothing at the time of the incident.  Images of the suspects are available on this website, cashfortips.us. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information to assist the Springfield Fire Department in reference to an arson that occurred on June 1st at Jaycee’s Park, 2400 E. Monroe in Springfield.

Around 5 pm firefighters responded to the park due to unknown suspects setting fire to the playground equipment inside the park.  The fire caused extensive damage, destroying a large portion of the playground and resulting in an estimated $70,000 in damage. Anyone who may have been in the area that witnessed suspicious activity, observed individuals near the playground or has information about those responsible to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip on this website, or use the P3 app.

This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information to help the Springfield Police Department identify two individuals involved in a retail theft.

On May 15th, 2026, two suspects entered Old Navy, located at 3261 South Veterans Parkway in Springfield, and selected a large amount of clothing merchandise throughout the store. After gathering the items, both suspects exited the business without paying for the merchandise. Both suspects were black females, with the first suspect wearing purple scrubs and the second was wearing a gray shirt with black leggings.

Unfortunately, criminals often see these job sites as opportunities to steal expensive tools, construction materials, and supplies.  These crimes delay projects, impact local workers, and create safety concerns.

If you see suspicious activity around a construction site—such as after-hours visitors, unmarked vehicles, or unfamiliar individuals in the area, call your local police department immediately.
