Scammers

This week, Crime Stoppers wants to help protect you from scammers. Every day, scammers are working to steal your money, identity, and personal information.

They often create a strong sense of urgency, so it’s important to slow down and ask if it makes sense. They may tell you a loved one is in danger, claim you owe money to the government, or promise prizes, that sound too good to be true.

They will even tell you to lie or keep it a secret from others. Law enforcement is now warning about scams using fake texts, emails, and even AI-generated images or videos designed to make their stories look real.

For more helpful information about scams visit our website cashfortips.us.  Remember if you have any information about any crime, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8324.  If your tip results in an arrest you could receive a cash reward up to $2,500.  Remember Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.

This week Crime Stoppers is partnering with Sangamon County Animal Control to talk about animal abuse.  Every year, right here in our community, countless animals suffer from neglect, abandonment, or intentional cruelty. Sometimes it’s a pet left outside in freezing temperatures… a dog tied up without food or water… or an animal deliberately harmed for no reason at all.  Animal cruelty is a crime, and stopping it begins with you.  If you witness intentional cruelty, don’t look the other way.  Speak up for those that don’t have voices of their own.  If you know of an animal that is being mistreated, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip on this website, or use the P3 mobile app. If your tip results in an arrest you could receive a cash reward up to $2500.  Remember Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
